MODELLING PUBLIC SPACES IN CULTURE Rethinking Institutional Practices in Culture and Historical (Dis)continuities

Промоцијата ќе биде организирана како јавна презентација и отворена дискусија која ќе се одржи во Кино Култура овој четврток, 10 мај во 19:00 часот.

За публикацијата ќе говорат неколку автори на текстови: Паскал Гиелен (Брисел - Белгија), Горан Јанев, Ивана Васева, Ивана Драгшиќ, Јане Чаловски (Скопје - Македонија).

Презентацијата и отворената дискусија ќе ја модерираат: Билјана Тануровска Ќулавковски и Виолета Качакова (уредници и автори на текст во публикацијата), претставници на Локомотива-Скопје (издавач на публикацијата)

Публикацијата е продолжение на истоимената Конференција организирана во Скопје, Кино култура во октомври 2017 година. Целта на конференцијата беше да понуди разновиден тематски преглед на "јавниот простор" како физичка локација кој создава социјални врски и "јавна сфера" како збирка на атрибути кои придонесуваат за формирање на јавениот дискурс. На конференцијата, јавните простори беа разгледани и дискутирани преку два различни аспекти: 1 / Ревизионизам и креирање на историјатата на културата и институцијата и 2 / Рефлексија на потребата од нови модели на јавни простори во културата.

Врз основа на главната тематска рамка на Конференцијата, Публикацијата продолжува да ја истражува во истата насока, преку три главни тематски оски.

Првата, "Реасемблирање на на институцијата за култура", нуди текстови кои ја анализираат идејата за институцијата и институирањето, културната политика и нејзиниот однос со институцијата, и критички рефлектира на учеството како метод во управувњето.

Втората "Колективно институтирање: помеѓу "не повеќе" и "сè уште", содржи анализи и теоретска артикулација на "недостатни" простори, размислувања за заедничко/комунално користење- неговата генеалогија и значење, како и предлог на уметнички и кураторски практики како методологија за реформација на јавниот простор.

"Археологиите на иднината", е третата темтска оска која се развива во областа на историјата и меморијата преку испитување на (медиумски) слики, особено оние што создаваат историски наративи, но исто така градат (или заменуваат) лична и колективна меморија.

Публикацијата сордржи шеснаесет текстови, и три студии на случај за просторите на истражување во проектот: Кино Култура - Македонија, Пионерски град - Србија и Мотел Тогир - Хрватска. Авторите на текстови се од поранешна Југославија, Европа и пошироко, од различни професионални сфери - социолози, научници, академици, културни работници, независни истражувачи, експерти за културна политика, теоретичари за уметност и култура, уметници, активисти, менаџери во културата итн.

PROMOION of the Publication: MODELLING PUBLIC SPACES IN CULTURE Rethinking Institutional Practices in Culture and Historical (Dis)continuities

The promotion will be organized in a form of public presentation and open discussion held in Kino Kultura this Thursday, MAY 10 at 19:00

The event will gather several authors of texts in the publication: Pascal Gielen (Brussels – Belgium), Goran Janev, Ivana Vaseva, Ivana Dragsikj, Yane Chalovaki (Skopje – Macedonia).

The presentation and open discussion will be moderated by Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski and Violeta Kachakova (editors and authors of text in the publication), representatives of Lokomotiva - Skopje (publisher of the publication)

The Publication “Modeling Public Space(s) in Culture” is a continuation to the Conference Modelling Public Space(s) in Culture organised in Skopje, Kino Kultura in October 2017. The Conference aimed to offer diverse thematic overview on “public space” as a physical location creating social ties and “public sphere” as the collection of attributes contributing to the formation of public discourse. At the conference, public spaces were reviewed and discussed through two different aspects: 1/Revisionism and production of the history of culture and institution and 2/Reflection on the need for new models of public spaces in culture.

On the basis of the main thematic frame developed with the Conference, the publication continues to investigate it the same direction. Thus, the publication has three main thematic axes.

The first one, “Re-Assembling the Institution of Culture”, brings forward texts that analyse the notion of the institution and instituting, cultural policy and its relation to the institution, and critically reflecting on participation as a method in governing.

The second theme “Collective Instituting: Between ‘No Longer’ And ‘Not Yet’”, brings analyses and theoretical articulation of “destituent” spaces, thoughts about commoning, its genealogy and meaning, and proposes artistic and curatorial practices as a methodology for reformation of the public space and gives two artistic approaches in viewing the institution and its practices.

“Archaeologies of the Future”, the third theme delves in the realm of history and memory by examining (media) images, particularly those creating historical narratives, but also building (or replacing) personal and collective memory.

There are sixteen contributions in these thematic axes, and three case studies for the spaces concerned in the project. - Kino Kultura - Macedonia, Pioneer City - Serbia and Motel Togir - Croatia. The authors are from former Yugoslavia, Europe and beyond, all coming from different background - sociologists, scholars, academics, cultural workers, independent researchers, cultural policy experts, art and culture theorists, artists, activists, managers in culture, etc.
